Orange juice concentrate from Brazil
Brazil is the largest orange producer in the world. The majority of these fruits are processed into fruit juice and then exported. The fruit juice is processed into a concentrated form and then transported with so-called fruit juice tankers to the defined regions. Orange juice concentrate is stored and transported as frozen. It is pumped via stainless steel pipes into the ship's tanks, which are also made of stainless steel, then emptied out at the port of destination into special coolers and preparation plants. Deep-frozen orange juice concentrate is very viscous and creates complex challenges for the pump, the pipework and transportation technology. The high sugar content in juice concentrates, often over 70° Brix, also presents additional challenges for the downtime of the utilised units.
Powerful, Hygienic and Infinitely Variable
Especially for conveying tasks with high demands on handling products gently, viscosity and conveying flow rate ranges as well as robustness and longevity, many companies in the food and beverage industry rely on the pumps from Jung Process Systems. This customer had also decided that the HYGHSPIN 125 was the ideal option for equipping their tankers, as its six pumps achieve the advantages of low NPSHr values and a continuous regulation of the conveying volume. Furthermore the pumps operate with very little wear due to their impressive design, also under these extremely difficult conditions. The pumps which were delivered at the end of Autumn 2013 are the most power-efficient steel screw spindle pumps from the HYGHSPIN series. In this particular application, they convey 95 m3/h at up to 12 bar. This enables the loading and unloading of the tanker in just a few hours. Depending on the viscosity, the pumps are capable of conveying up to 300 m3/h and work with maximum differential pressures of up to 16 bar. As with all other HYGHSPIN pumps, they are also EHEDG Certified and equipped with FDA approved elastomers. Double-acting mechanical seals shield the product against external contamination and make a significant contribution to their cleaning. The pumps are installed on a baseplate with coupling and coupling guard and are designed as very robust. The inspection opening in the transmission housing facilitates maintenance considerably.
